Chat GPT Custom Magic Part #2: Blue Cards

This is my second post in a series where I show the cards I prompted Chat GPT 4.0 to make. This time it’s the blue cards.

Blue might have the greatest collection of great cards, but there’s also a real lack of bombs. Arcane Torrent is Chat GPT’s attempt at a flashy rare spell, and it’s really janky and unlikely to ever go off as much as you’d want it to. I’ll make note of a few others on the other side of the card list, so you can take a look for yourself first.

Enjoy!

Okay, so first of all, Illusory Mirage might be the worst magic card ever designed. If you somehow missed it, it’s the 4/4 for 8 mana with the Illusion downside of instantly dying upon being targeted by anything. The best card is probably Tidal Surge? I’m not a blue player, maybe there’s something broken for a Merfolk tribal commander in here.

Blue also has the lucky position of having the most upgrades within its own set. Voidweave is a better Mental Strain, Deliberate Thoughts is better than Pondering Thoughts (flavour win?), and Tidal Surge is a far better version of Temporal Distortion.

If I were actually trying to make a fun set, I might have stepped in and asked for more variation in the cards, and redesigns of the worst cards and the strict upgrades, but this is first and foremost an experiment of the capabilities of Chat GPT when given the exact layout used internally when starting a set at Wizards of the Coast.

Still thinking about that commander video though.
